AA/CAP/004Capability
Metal additive
AA/CAP/004 · ENVELOPE 250 × 250 × 300 MM · ISO 2768-F · ISO 9001 IN PROGRESS · 24 H VERIFIED QUOTE
DMLS for lattice brackets, manifolds and internal-channel parts where the geometry cannot be machined, then built, heat-treated, HIPed where specified and finished at the interfaces as a machined part would be.
Envelope and tolerances
What we commit to as standard
Beyond an envelope we route to manual review; we do not decline. Tolerance classes are per ISO 2768 unless a feature is called tighter on the drawing.
| Item | Standard envelope (mm) | Baseline lead time |
|---|---|---|
Metal additive (DMLS) Prototype quantity, before material and finish factors | 250 × 250 × 300 | 14 working days |
| Item | Value | Governing standard / note |
|---|---|---|
General tolerance | ISO 2768-m | ISO 2768-1 medium class; default when the drawing is silent |
Fine tolerance | ISO 2768-f | ISO 2768-1 fine class; recommended for structural hardware |
Precision features | ±0.05 mm | Called per feature; verified on CMM |
Precision features, hard alloys | ±0.025 mm | Grinding or hard-turning pass and CMM verification; a cost step, not a blocker |
Minimum wall, committed | 0.8 mm | Below this the line is held for review |
Thin-wall review threshold | 1.2 mm | Between the floor and this, a stress-relief step or accepted flatness deviation |
Surface finish, as-machined | (125 Ra) | Finer on request; see finishes |
Materials
Alloys we source, by family
Certified stock with mill test certificates traced to heat and lot. The relative cycle-time factor drives our lead-time model; it is not a price factor.
| Item | Density | Cycle-time factor | Anodising route |
|---|---|---|---|
Titanium Gr5 (Ti-6Al-4V) | 4.43 g/cm³ | ×2.40 | AMS-2488 |
| Item | Density | Cycle-time factor | Anodising route |
|---|---|---|---|
Inconel 718 | 8.19 g/cm³ | ×3.00 | Not anodisable |
Need an alloy not listed? Add it as a note on the RFQ line. It is routed for manual review with a sourcing check before we quote. We do not decline on the alloy alone.
Finishes
Every finish names its specification
A finish call-out without a specification is not one we accept on a drawing or publish here. Where a treatment has no governing standard, the parameters are agreed in writing per job.
| Item | Governing specification | Added lead time | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
As-machined (125 Ra) | None (baseline, no treatment) | No added time | Titanium, Nickel alloy |
Bead blast | Media and pressure recorded per job | +1 working days | Titanium, Nickel alloy |
Titanium anodise | AMS-2488 Type 2 | +3 working days | Titanium |
Vacuum bake-out | Profile agreed per programme | +4 working days | Titanium, Nickel alloy |
Inspection
Inspection levels
Chosen per line on the RFQ. Where a vendor or an accredited lab took the measurement, our report says reviewed by or witnessed by, never inspected by.
| Item | Added lead time | Included |
|---|---|---|
Standard dimensional | No added time | On every line |
First Article (AS9102) | +1 working days | On request |
Full CMM report | +2 working days | On request |
CMM + NDT (DPI/UT) | +3 working days | On request |
